DEPARTURE is a band that mixes the eclectic stylings of each of its members leading to an original sound that lends itself well to a variety of concert settings. The primary musical influences of the group include the likes of: Heart, Grand Funk Railroad, Cream, Eric Carmen, the 77's, the Pointer Sisters, and Suzy Boguss.
The primary instrumentation of DEPARTURE includes electric guitar, electric bass, keyboards, drums, a male lead vocal, a female lead vocal, and a shaker egg. However, at any given moment the band may break out some new instrument to lend a different feel to any particular song.
DEPARTURE does primarily original music. Most tunes are written by Bev and Alan, but each person contributes songs as they feel inspired. Each writer in the group brings a different spin to the creative process, thereby leading to a distinctively unique final product.
